About the role#
As a Co-op Accountant, you will join the Assurance and Accounting team to provide financial information and advisory services. This role involves working with a diverse team to help clients navigate financial reporting requirements and make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills across compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations to outline engagement findings.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and build professional relationships with client contacts.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards while managing multiple client files.
- Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll walk-throughs with clients.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or progress toward, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Completion of, or progress toward, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) by the start of employment.
- Previous accounting office experience is considered an asset.
- Customer or client service experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
