About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Co-op Accountant position within the Assurance and Accounting team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on-site in Mitchell, Ontario, providing financial information to help clients make informed business decisions. You will gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment while developing technical skills across various service areas.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients for accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions, and payroll.
- Summarize financial status by collecting data and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies or irregularities in financial entries and documents.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards while managing multiple client files.
- Prepare technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence regarding engagement findings.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and maintain flexibility to travel as required.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or progress toward, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Completion of, or progress toward, the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon starting the role.
- Previous office experience in an accounting setting is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service roles is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
