Co-op Accountant

About the role#

Join the Assurance & Accounting team at MNP as a Co-op Accountant. This role focuses on providing tailored financial information to help clients make informed business decisions. You will work within a professional team to support various financial reporting needs.

What you'll do#

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
• Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial documents and reports.
• Set up files for new clients and conduct inventory counts.
• Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and client summaries.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and maintain flexibility to travel as required.

What you'll need#

• Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
• Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Previous accounting office experience, customer service experience, and familiarity with accounting or tax software are considered assets.

• Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000 annually.
