About the role#
MNP is hiring a Co-op Accounting Technician to join the Assurance and Accounting team in Melfort, Saskatchewan. This is an 8-month, full-time, paid position running from January 2027 through August 2027. You will work on-site as part of a team that provides financial information and advisory services to clients.
What you'll do#
- Assist with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements.
- Prepare and maintain government filings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, expenses, and payroll transactions.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash and bank reconciliations.
- Set up client files and assist with administrative planning and budgets.
- Identify errors or issues and work with managers to resolve them.
- Communicate with government agencies regarding assessments and information requests.
- Travel as necessary to support client engagements.
What you'll need#
- Working towards an accounting certificate or a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration. A major in accounting or finance is an asset.
- Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes.
- Experience preparing T4s and T5s, plus knowledge of personal and corporate tax.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is an asset.
