About the role#
This is a 6-month full-time co-op position starting in January 2027. You will join the Direct Pressure Engineering group to assist with the design, analysis, build, and test of capacitance sensors and transducers. This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager and requires up to 10 percent travel.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to build prototype designs.
- Help diagnose production issues related to sensor performance.
- Run mechanical and thermal analyses using SolidWorks or COMSOL FEA.
- Test pressure transducers at both the sensor and system levels.
- Analyze test data and write detailed reports.
- Design and troubleshoot test systems.
- Fabricate test equipment using 3D printing and CNC milling.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling.
- Ability to use standard hand tools for building electromechanical devices.
- Skills in data processing using Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, or Python.
- Knowledge of basic electrical testing and debugging methods.
- Understanding of mechanical design and heat transfer principles.
- Experience with test instrumentation such as thermocouples, strain gauges, and infrared cameras.
- Ability to perform extensive test data analysis.
