About the role#
MKS Inc. is hiring an Electrical Engineering Co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in Rochester, New York. You will work with a team of experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products and solve technical problems for customers.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop analog and digital hardware for vacuum valve control.
- Assist with the design, debugging, and board bring-up of embedded electronics for microprocessor-based platforms.
- Use simulation, analysis, and prototyping to test your work.
- Participate in DFMEA, design reviews, and the creation of technical specifications.
- Perform failure analysis for customers and develop corrective action plans for design issues.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve component quality issues.
- Evaluate designs based on performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Communicate technical information clearly in written and oral formats.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- A solid foundation in electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Proficiency with tools such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes for embedded systems development.
- A hands-on approach to solving problems.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and a strong sense of ownership.
