About the role#
Microchip Technology Inc. is hiring an Engineering Intern for our Applications team in Houston, Texas. This is a full-time, paid position. You will work on-site to help our team provide technical support and develop documentation for our storage and connectivity products.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Applications team with technical support, application notes, and customer deliverables.
- Set up and maintain lab equipment to analyze and recreate customer system problems.
- Work with SAS, SATA, NVMe protocols, RAID controller embedded firmware, and OS drivers.
- Maintain our internal knowledge base and issue tracking database.
- Develop and review customer-facing documentation, including user guides, release notes, and technical training materials.
- Perform code updates and assist with root cause analysis for customer issues.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Academic or internship experience in applications or software development.
- A basic understanding of computer architecture.
- Software programming experience in Java and C.
- Knowledge of scripting or automation tools such as Python, Tcl, or Java.
- Experience installing Linux and Windows operating systems, along with hardware and drivers.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
