    About the role#

    The Operations & Strategy Fellow supports the systems, processes, and management tools that help the Michigan Black Business Alliance operate effectively. This role offers exposure to nonprofit operations, project management, and economic development while working directly with the Chief Operating Officer. You will complete a fellowship capstone project focused on identifying an operational challenge, researching solutions, and helping implement an improvement. This is a paid position for up to 30 hours per week.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop and maintain the operations manual and SOP library by documenting workflows and creating process maps.
    • Manage and improve Monday.com workspaces, including project trackers, action items, and status updates.
    • Support grant administration by tracking deadlines, organizing documentation, and preparing materials for reporting.
    • Provide project-management support for priority initiatives, including developing project plans and tracking deliverables.
    • Conduct research and benchmarking for special projects related to nonprofit operations and economic development.
    • Assist with recurring operational reporting by organizing data for leadership and board reviews.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, finance, information systems, public policy, or a related field.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Comfort using spreadsheets like Excel or Google Sheets.
    • Experience with Monday.com or similar project-management tools is a plus.
    • Strong written communication skills to turn research and conversations into clear documentation.
    • A genuine interest in Black entrepreneurship, economic development, and community-based organizations.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
