About the role#
Michael Baker International is seeking a Roadway Design Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, part-time position based on-site in Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, or Tallahassee, Florida. You will work within our Civil Engineering team to support technical tasks and various project assignments under the guidance of senior staff.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations and develop drawings or visual aids.
- Draft project details and make revisions using MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, or AutoCAD.
- Assist project managers and engineers with daily operations.
- Help with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation.
- Support field inspections, which includes working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil Engineering or a related field at an ABET accredited institution.
- Completion of some secondary coursework in your field of study.
- Good academic standing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, or AutoCAD is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid U.S. Driver license.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
