About the role#
Michael Baker International is hiring a Rail Bridge Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work within our Rail and Transit Practice under the supervision of experienced engineers. This role involves supporting our team with technical duties, daily project activities, and design tasks while receiving professional mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Prepare design calculations, plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Perform engineering analysis and calculations.
- Review record plans and develop them using CAD software.
- Assist with gathering project site information, including as-built plans and utility mapping.
- Visit project sites for general inspection and observation, reporting findings to project managers.
- Coordinate with multi-discipline design teams to support project deliverables.
- Assist with the preparation of construction documents, maps, and basic reports.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Masters degree program in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Familiarity with CAD and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work independently and manage project assignments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
