About the role#
Michael Baker International is hiring a Bridge Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work with a team of engineers in our Rocky Hill office to support various civil engineering projects. This role focuses on CAD design, bridge engineering, and bridge inspection tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preparing preliminary and final drawings, layouts, and designs using computer-aided design software.
- Help design and develop plans, specifications, and estimates for civil transportation and site engineering projects.
- Perform technical tasks including design analysis, construction documents, maps, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Complete simple to moderate calculations, such as quantity take-offs.
- Conduct site visits to support project needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Academic focus in Transportation or Structures (Bridge).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and MicroStation.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and present documentation effectively.
- Self-initiative and a desire to learn.

- Compensation: $20 to $26 per hour.
