About the role#
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring a Student Intern for a Water Reuse Co-Op. This role is based at the Pure Water Southern California Demonstration Plant in Carson, California. You will work with the Water Reuse and Process Development team to gain practical experience in engineering, field operations, and laboratory settings. This is a part-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Interpret Process Flow Diagrams to review treatment designs and document active treatment processes.
- Assist with sample collection, sample preparation, and routine water quality testing.
- Handle chemicals safely and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
- Ensure all work follows Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support the team through literature research, technical report writing, and document editing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university or an accredited graduate program.
- Major in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering.
- Sophomore or junior standing with approximately two years remaining before graduation.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Enrollment in at least 12 semester units or 8 quarter units.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
Location & details#
- Location: Carson, California.
- Work Modality: On-site only.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 to 10 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled in blocks of at least 4 hours between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Work Authorization: Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
