About the role#
This internship is based at the Pure Water Southern California Demonstration Plant in Carson, California. You will join the Water Reuse and Process Development team to gain hands-on experience in engineering, field operations, and laboratory work. You will work directly with water quality technicians, specialists, and process engineers to support treatment plant operations.
What you'll do#
- Interpret Process Flow Diagrams to review treatment designs and document active treatment processes.
- Assist with sample collection, sample preparation, and routine water quality testing.
- Handle chemicals safely while maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure all work follows established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support the team through literature research, technical report writing, and document editing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university with sophomore or junior standing, or enrollment in a related graduate degree program.
- Minimum 12 semester units or 8 quarter units per term.
- Major in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Approximately two years remaining before graduation.
- A valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
Location & details#
- Location: Carson, California.
- Work modality: On-site only.
- Schedule: Part-time, 8 to 10 hours per week, scheduled in blocks of at least 4 hours between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- This is a paid position.
