The Operations Analysis & Development Division (OADD) supports the Bus Command Center and Road Operations by utilizing data, technology, and performance analysis to improve bus service reliability, safety, and customer experience. This internship offers hands-on exposure to transit operations and service management initiatives that impact daily bus service across New York City. Interns will collaborate with operations, technology, and planning teams to develop tools and process improvements that assist leadership in making informed, real-time decisions.
What you'll do#
- Create reporting tools to support operational decision-making and performance monitoring.
- Develop and enhance applications, such as PowerApps, to streamline workflows for Bus Command Center supervisors.
- Validate datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Document processes and map workflows to support digital transformation efforts.
- Analyze bus service performance trends and identify recurring operational issues.
- Support user testing and feedback collection for digital tools used by field staff.
- Prepare presentation materials, summaries, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on pilot initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Matriculated undergraduate student (minimum 2.5 GPA) or graduate student (minimum 2.8 GPA).
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, Data Science, or Operations Management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with or coursework in computer programming, data analytics, or application development.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of detail.
- A genuine interest in public transit, operations, or technology-driven process improvement.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: This is an on-site position requiring regular, in-person attendance.
- Compensation: $19.00 per hour for undergraduate students.
