Communications, Emerging Talent Intern

About the role#

The Communications, Emerging Talent Intern will support the Operations Support & Organizational Resiliency team at Metro-North Railroad. This role focuses on internal and external communications, assisting with strategic projects, agency-wide initiatives, and event support to ensure clear messaging across the organization.

What you'll do#

• Oversee customer-facing touchpoints, including social media content, web pages, PA announcements, and email notifications.
• Produce the weekly employee newsletter and the quarterly customer-facing newsletter.
• Manage the creation and distribution of digital screen content.
• Support strategic projects, such as fare policy updates, fare evasion initiatives, and agency policies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to highlight departmental milestones and successes.
• Provide video and photo support for internal and external events.
• Assist with general administrative tasks, intranet maintenance, and research projects.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
• Preferred majors include Communications, Public Health, Media Studies, Marketing, or Journalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic graphic design and multimedia skills, including Photoshop, Canva, and video editing.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage project deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.

• Work Modality: On-site, requiring regular in-person attendance.
• Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
• Status: Full-time, rolling term.
