About the role#
The Strategic Communications Intern supports the Senior Director of Strategic Communications within the Office of the President at New York City Transit. This role involves developing and executing internal messaging, executive communications, and employee engagement initiatives for a large public transportation agency.
What you'll do#
- Draft internal communications, such as announcements and newsletters, for executive and employee audiences.
- Assist in the preparation of executive presentations, speeches, talking points, and briefing materials.
- Conduct research on transportation industry trends and communications best practices to support strategic initiatives.
- Support the planning and execution of employee engagement campaigns.
- Maintain communications calendars, project trackers, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparing materials for MTA Committee and Board meetings, including document coordination and presentation development.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather information and ensure content accuracy.
- Proofread, edit, and format materials to maintain organizational standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with a minimum 2.5 GPA or a graduate program with a minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Public Health, Political Science, Marketing, Journalism, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and work independently as well as on a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Compensation: $19.00 per hour for undergraduates and $21.00 per hour for graduate students.
