About the role#
The Ridership Analysis and Modeling team functions as an internal consultant for New York City Transit. The group analyzes ridership patterns, passenger movement, and transit trends across subway and bus systems. You will assist in developing models and tools used to forecast rider behavior and improve schedule accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Update and maintain GIS datasets while ensuring accuracy across systems.
- Perform spatial data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance.
- Integrate GIS datasets with bus speed and operational data to analyze corridor performance.
- Support the modernization of fixed guideway reporting processes.
- Assist in backend development and data structuring for the OP ArcGIS Online Portal.
- Document data processes and methodologies to ensure long-term maintainability.
- Develop and refine geospatial analysis tools and workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align datasets and analytical outputs.
What you'll need#
- You must be a matriculated graduate student in good standing with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Urban Planning, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.

- This is an on-site internship located at 2 Broadway, New York, NY.
- The term is for Winter 2027.
- This position is paid at an hourly rate of $21.00.
