About the role#
The Operations Support, Emerging Talent Intern will assist the Staten Island Railways Operations Support department with administrative and operational functions. This role contributes to cross-departmental coordination, inventory tracking, documentation, and the analysis of operations data for executive management. The internship focuses on supporting areas such as employee services, timekeeping, finance, policy compliance, and training.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and organize departmental electronic and paper files.
- Create and manage databases for records related to training, injuries, and disciplinary history.
- Assist in testing internal controls and system safety compliance.
- Gather and organize pertinent documents for audits and reporting.
- Develop programs or platforms to assist finance and timekeeping departments with visual and analytical reporting.
- Provide recommendations to improve departmental processes and efficiency.
- Perform general office duties including research, data entry, scanning, and interview scheduling.
- Update records in the PeopleSoft and Enterprise Learning Management systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program (minimum 2.5 GPA) or graduate program (minimum 2.8 GPA).
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Human Resources, Computer Science, Communications, or Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
