About the role#
The Power Department at New York City Transit seeks a Data Analyst Intern to support the electrical and third rail systems that power the transit network. This role focuses on modernizing workflows, reducing manual processes, and improving data visibility through automation and business intelligence solutions. The intern will contribute to projects including automation development, data visualization, and SharePoint optimization.
What you'll do#
- Perform administrative tasks to support daily departmental operations.
- Develop automation processes using Microsoft Power Automate to streamline workflows.
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards in Power BI to visualize performance metrics.
- Analyze, clean, and format data in Excel to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures and departmental manuals.
- Assist in managing database applications and record retention.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and document meeting proceedings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Information Technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
