About the role#
Metropolitan Family Services is seeking interns for the Behavioral Health program at the DuPage Center. This unpaid internship is designed for students who need hours to complete course or graduation requirements. You will work with diverse populations to provide essential support services.
What you'll do#
- Perform comprehensive assessments and handle intakes.
- Provide case management, counseling, advocacy, and educational services.
- Assess community conditions to identify resource gaps.
- Facilitate group services and support groups as needed.
- Maintain accurate agency records.
- Collaborate with community agencies and staff.
- For the Adoption Support and Preservation role, you will provide in-home services to families formed through adoption.
- For the Seniors/Caregivers role, you will provide 1:1 counseling and case management in offices, homes, or community settings.
What you'll need#
- For the Adoption Support and Preservation role, you must be enrolled in a master's level program in Social Work or Counseling.
- For the Seniors/Caregivers role, you must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's level program in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
- A valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and proof of insurance are required.

- Location: Wheaton, Illinois.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Terms: Fall 2026 and Summer 2027.
- This position is unpaid and part-time.
