About the role#
We are seeking a part-time intern to join our Midway Adult Protective Services team for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a paid internship based on-site in Chicago. You will support our efforts to protect vulnerable adults by handling intakes, managing cases, and assisting with crisis situations.
What you'll do#
- Provide client-centered intake and referral services to help individuals connect with necessary resources.
- Gather and process information to determine eligibility for services.
- Triage and de-escalate situations involving persons in crisis.
- File reports regarding abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment, or self-neglect.
- Assist with emergency responses and collaborate with program staff to implement service plans.
- Conduct community outreach to raise awareness of the Adult Protective Services program.
- Participate in the rotation for the intake and after-hours phone lines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in social work, psychology, sociology, human resources, public health, or a related field at an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective service to clients.
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
- Mobility to manage a community-based caseload.
- Successful completion of all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
