About the role#
Metropolitan Family Services is seeking a part-time intern for the Adult Protective Services program at the Midway location. This internship is available for the Fall 2026 semester and provides hands-on experience in social work, case management, and crisis intervention.
What you'll do#
- Provide client-centered intake and referral services to connect individuals with appropriate resources.
- Gather and process information to determine service eligibility and expand external referral networks.
- Triage and de-escalate individuals in crisis situations.
- File reports regarding abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment, or self-neglect.
- Assist in emergency and crisis situations, including engaging first responders when necessary.
- Support case management activities, including client assessments, service planning, and advocacy.
- Participate in community outreach to raise awareness of the Adult Protective Services program.
- Collaborate with program staff to implement service plans and address system issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's level program in social work, psychology, sociology, human resources, public health, or a related field at an accredited university.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective service to clients.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Mobility to manage a community-based caseload.
- Successful completion of all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
