About the role#
Metallus Inc. is hiring an Application Lab Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Canton, Ohio. You will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while working on metallurgical investigations and material analysis.
What you'll do#
- Perform failure analyses and metallurgical investigations to find the root cause of steel quality issues and defects.
- Prepare samples for testing through sectioning, mounting, and polishing.
- Use optical and scanning electron microscopy to evaluate metallurgical features.
- Analyze steel cleanness and characterization.
- Write investigative reports and documentation related to material findings.
What you'll need#
- You must be a full-time student at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
- You need to have completed at least 30 credit hours by the end of the spring 2027 semester.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
- Preferred fields of study include Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is necessary.
