About the role#
MDA Space is looking for a Finance Co-Op student to join the Corporate Finance team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a full-time, 8-month paid position for the Winter 2027 term, beginning in January 2027. You will work on-site and must obtain security clearance at the enhanced reliability status level, as well as pass a security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program and ITAR.
What you'll do#
- Develop and run financial models to support forecasting and analysis.
- Participate in research, accounting assessments, and internal audit projects.
- Assist with the monthly reporting cycle, account reconciliations, and documentation standards.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline existing processes.
- Prepare tax provision working papers and Canadian corporate tax returns.
- Compile eligible Scientific Research and Experimental Development expenditures and investment tax credit estimates.
- Support daily tax functions, including monitoring tax instalments and communicating with tax authorities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on finance, accounting, business, commerce, mathematics, statistics, or actuarial sciences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- A self-starter attitude with a willingness to learn and work well within a team.
- Prior experience with financial analysis, financial reporting, or accounting systems is considered an asset.
