About the role#
The Software Engineering Intern position is a full-time, paid opportunity for students to gain experience in the healthcare industry. You will work on project-based initiatives within the McKesson Pharmacy Systems Engineering team. This role focuses on applying academic knowledge to real-world software engineering environments while building a professional network.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, or evaluate software and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Improve engineering productivity, operational workflows, and user experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on key business initiatives.
- Participate in coaching and structured performance activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- You must be entering your Junior or Senior year and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Coding experience in Python, JavaScript, or another scripting language.
- Understanding of SQL queries, relational databases, data structures, and software development fundamentals.
- Coursework, projects, or hands-on exposure to AI, machine learning, generative AI, or natural language processing.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools to improve software quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A curious, energetic, and self-starting approach to work.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Locations: Irving, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; and remote options in Pennsylvania and Texas.
- Employment type: Full-time.
