About the role#
As a Preconstruction Co-op, you work with the team from your first day. You will receive training and take on tasks that contribute to our project success. This role involves learning how to estimate projects and scopes of work, working with vendors and subcontractors, and supporting operations groups. You may lead a multi-million-dollar bid under the guidance of a Sales Engineer.
What you'll do#
- Assist Estimators and Sales Engineers in all phases of the bid process.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to solicit material and equipment quotes.
- Manage and organize construction documents.
- Review project drawings and specifications to develop estimates and proposals.
- Use software tools like FastPIPE, FastDUCT, and Bluebeam to produce labor and materials reports.
- Support Preconstruction tech initiatives and data capture.
- Attend jobsite walks to track and measure estimate performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited engineering school.
- Major in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree.
- Ability to complete at least two full-time, alternating or sequential Co-op rotations before graduation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage your workload efficiently.
- Strong communication skills to work with project managers, drafting teams, field staff, and fabrication shops.
