About the role#
The preconstruction team at Barton Malow helps owners determine project costs, timelines, and building methods before work begins on site. As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will work on active projects with guidance from a mentor.
What you'll do#
- Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Assist with checking estimates.
- Review drawings to identify constructability and coordination issues.
- Track open items throughout the project lifecycle.
- Gather pricing from equipment suppliers and subcontractors.
- Support value engineering efforts.
- Participate in Lean planning sessions and jobsite visits.
- Communicate your findings to the project team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a mechanical engineering degree program.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills.
- Experience in construction or MEP is preferred.
- Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
