About the role#
The Bradenton Herald offers a 10-week, paid summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in a professional newsroom. Interns are treated as staff members and are paired with a senior-level mentor for coaching, training, and professional development. The program includes weekly skills training sessions and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Break news and explain complex issues to the community.
- Hold politicians accountable and provide answers to reader questions on health and local topics.
- Produce visual content, including video coverage of exclusive locations.
- Collaborate with seasoned staff members and engage directly with local leaders.
- Operate in the capacity of a reporter, visual storyteller, or audience and social media specialist.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in Journalism or Communications.
- Previous experience reporting or producing for a student or professional news publication is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site and reside near the newsroom in Bradenton, Florida.
