The Sacramento Bee is seeking newsroom interns for Summer 2026. These full-time, paid positions allow students to work as staff members alongside professional journalists. Interns will gain hands-on experience while contributing to daily newsroom operations, with training provided on equipment, reporting procedures, and field coverage. We welcome applicants pursuing a career in journalism, particularly those studying Journalism or Communications.
What you'll do#
- Report thoroughly on a variety of news topics and produce content for the newsroom.
- Write clearly, utilizing strong storytelling skills and an understanding of audience interests.
- Use reporting equipment and follow established newsroom procedures.
- Stay informed on current events and engage with audience needs.
- Fulfill various shifts as required by the newsroom.
What you'll need#
- An understanding of basic news standards, ethics, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A foundational skill set in content production.
- For visual roles: proficiency in still photography and video.
- For production roles: knowledge of production software and video storytelling techniques.
- A strong interest in connecting with audiences through social networking and news coverage.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour at 37.5 hours per week.
