About the role#
As an Applied AI & Automation Summer Student, you will work directly with Operations subject-matter experts to identify process improvements and develop internal applications, workflow automations, and AI-enabled solutions. You will translate business needs into technical requirements and build prototypes that support areas such as trade operations, reconciliations, data-quality checks, and client reporting. This is a hands-on development role where you will use AI-assisted tools to build solutions and test them against real operational scenarios.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Operations teams to understand business rules, controls, and operational pain points.
- Translate business requirements into practical solution designs.
- Build and iterate on internal applications and agent-based workflows.
- Connect solutions to databases, APIs, documents, and existing business systems.
- Test solutions against business rules and user expectations before deployment.
- Investigate defects, triage pilot issues, and recommend improvements.
- Document solution logic, dependencies, and operating procedures for long-term maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, business, finance, mathematics, or a related field.
- Must be returning to post-secondary school upon completion of the work term.
- Demonstrated experience building or automating projects through coursework, employment, or personal initiatives.
- Foundational experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or SQL.
- Exposure to responsible AI concepts and AI-assisted development tools.
- Ability to learn new tools and business concepts quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- An interest in investment management, financial services, or business operations.
