About the role#
This internship program is a 10-week opportunity based at our Munising Mill. You will work within our operations team to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, process engineering, and project management. You will have direct exposure to mill leadership and work on specific deliverables that impact our production environment.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the operations team on process efficiency, cost savings, and technology projects.
- Participate in production line operations to learn about technical properties and quality issues.
- Assist engineers in identifying the root causes of process defects.
- Support new customer trials.
- Help leadership modify or create standard operating procedures.
- Attend leadership meetings and complete assigned tasks.
- Manage project work as assigned by mill management.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Paper Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least one full year of coursework (two years is preferred).
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong initiative, curiosity, and the ability to analyze data to find improvement opportunities.
- Ability to synthesize information, communicate clearly, and work well in a team.
