About the role#
The Safety Intern provides administrative and field support at our jobsite. You will assist the Safety Manager and Safety Coordinator with daily safety operations, documentation, and compliance tasks. This role requires a balance of office work and active participation on the jobsite.
What you'll do#
- Enter drug and alcohol testing results and manage related employee files.
- Scan and log employment documentation into the system.
- Enter training rosters into the MIC Training Database.
- Coordinate and present safety training, including new hire orientations.
- Assist in the preparation of safety meetings and presentations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific safety plan.
- Communicate with the Safety Manager and participate in the jobsite R4 Safety Committee.
- Attend weekly general and supervisor safety meetings, along with daily gang box meetings.
- Create and update new hire safety binders and manuals.
- Maintain safety records and statistics in Excel.
- Order, track, and ship supplies, including PPE.
- Maintain jobsite first aid and emergency response supplies.
- Monitor environmental permitting regulations to ensure compliance.
- Serve as a backup drug and alcohol collector.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate Degree program in Safety, Construction, or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong writing and reporting skills with attention to grammar.
- Ability to speak and write clearly to present information to employees.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs, MSHA, or OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work at heights, maintain balance, and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
- Good vision and hearing, either naturally or with correction.
- Ability to coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.
Location & details#
- Location: Louisville, Colorado.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, typically 50 hours per week.
- Travel: Up to 90% travel required, with the role based directly on the project site.
