About the role#
William Charles Construction, a part of MasTec, is hiring Field Engineer Interns to support projects in Rockford, Illinois. You will work closely with Project Managers and Construction Managers to support site operations, quality control, and project documentation. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Perform field survey work for site layout and activity tracking using GPS equipment and PC-based software.
- Manage quality control records and ensure required reports are completed.
- Coordinate audits and inspections to ensure project documentation is accurate.
- Assist with material inventory, receiving paperwork, and RFI submittals.
- Help with subcontractor scheduling and project closeout tasks, such as creating as-builts and job binders.
- Support estimating tasks as needed.
- Note that this role may require extended work hours and weekend shifts.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Safety and Health, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 24 college credit hours.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A basic understanding of construction industry practices.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
- Availability for 100% project-specific travel.
