About the role#
Marathon Petroleum Corporation offers accounting internships and co-ops that provide on-the-job training within the petroleum industry. Interns are placed in various departments, including Audit Assurance and Advisory Services, General Accounting, Joint Venture and Operations Accounting, Property Accounting, and Tax Accounting. Participants gain exposure to business operations and work with departments outside of the Controller's Organization to build collaborative relationships.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and process business documents.
- Perform analysis of accounting and financial data to prepare financial statement journal entries.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare tax information.
- Test SOX and Non-SOX controls in auditing.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree or higher program.
- Major in Accounting is preferred, though other business majors may be considered.
- Strong academic performance.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week.
- Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
