Intern/Co-op - Accounting (Spring 2027)

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience within the Controller's Organization at Marathon Petroleum Corporation. Interns receive on-the-job training regarding petroleum industry dynamics, job-specific assignments, and relevant software programs. You will have the opportunity to interface with various departments, fostering collaborative professional relationships across the organization.

What you'll do#

• Analyze and process business documents.
• Perform analysis of accounting and financial data to prepare financial statement journal entries.
• Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
• Prepare tax information.
• Test SOX and Non-SOX controls in auditing.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program or higher.
• Accounting major preferred; other business majors may be considered.
• Strong academic performance.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for visa sponsorship.
