Macy's Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship Program provides exposure to the core functions of retail leadership, including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, operations, and human resources. This 8-week, full-time, paid internship runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026, and offers an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily operations of a multi-million-dollar retail department store.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and developing a team of colleagues.
• Support daily store operations through the training and coaching of staff.
• Engage with leaders across various business functions within the store and region.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Explore retail strategies through business analysis and propose new ideas for growth through a final project.
• Foster an environment of connection with colleagues, customers, and the community.

What you'll need#

• Current junior status, pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
• All majors are considered, with interest in fields such as Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Communications, or Human Resources.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle or feel; occasional movement about the workplace and reaching is required.
• Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and a results-driven approach to problem-solving.
