Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week paid, full-time program designed to provide exposure to the leadership and operational facets of a retail department store. Interns work on-site to gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and store operations while collaborating with leadership teams to drive business performance.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute merchandising initiatives.
• Support daily store operations by training and coaching colleagues to ensure smooth execution.
• Engage with leaders across store and regional business functions to broaden your professional perspective.
• Analyze business trends to select merchandise that meets customer needs and apply retail strategies.
• Develop and present a project to store leadership proposing business growth strategies.
• Create a customer-focused selling environment by fostering authentic connections with colleagues and customers.

What you'll need#

• Status as a rising senior enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program with one year of studies remaining.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher is encouraged.
• All majors are considered, including Business Administration, Marketing, and Communications.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting at least 30 lbs, constant movement, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration.
