Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship Program is an 8-week, full-time, paid opportunity designed to provide exposure to the core functions of retail leadership. Interns gain firsthand experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, store operations, and colleague development. You will work within a store leadership team to learn the complexities of managing a multi-million-dollar department store.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Support daily store operations by training and coaching colleagues to ensure smooth execution.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that better meets customer needs.
• Engage with leaders across store and regional business functions to broaden your professional perspective.
• Develop and present a project to store leadership that proposes business growth strategies.
• Shadow managers of operations and visual merchandising to plan and execute initiatives that drive performance.

What you'll need#

• Standing as a rising senior in an accredited undergraduate program with one year of study remaining.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0.
• All majors are considered, including Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, and Human Resources.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting at least 30 lbs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and remaining in a stationary position for at least two hours.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across diverse teams.
