Macy's Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, full-time, paid program providing exposure to the core facets of retail leadership. Participants gain hands-on experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, and colleague development. This program serves as an introduction to store leadership, with the potential for high-performing interns to be considered for the Store Management Executive Development Program (EDP) upon graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive continuous constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leaders across various business functions within the store and region.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training colleagues.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Explore retail strategies by analyzing business performance and proposing new ideas for growth through a final project and presentation.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect while building connections with colleagues and customers.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. All majors are considered, including Business Administration, Marketing, and Human Resources.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and the initiative to tackle new challenges.
• Sincere passion for engaging with people, supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems and drive results through others.
• Strong business acumen and a curiosity about developing a modern retail business.
• Physical ability to sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to touch and handle items; occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms.
