Macy's Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns will gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, colleague development, human resources, and asset protection. The program runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026. Upon successful completion, interns may be considered for the Store Management Executive Development Program (EDP) after graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Analyze trends with business partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training colleagues to support daily store operations.
• Engage with leaders across various business functions within the store and region.
• Complete a project and presentation, consulting with store leadership to propose new ideas for business growth.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect by strengthening relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred; all majors are welcome to apply.
• Self-motivation with a positive attitude and a sincere passion for engaging with people.
• Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel; occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms.
