About the role#
The Supply Chain Internship is an 8-week program designed to provide hands-on experience within Macy's end-to-end supply chain network. Working as part of the Process Engineering team at a fulfillment center, interns support operations by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve efficiency. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with engineers and operations staff to implement solutions and document best practices.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data regarding workflow efficiency, labor utilization, and equipment performance.
- Support the development and testing of process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to implement solutions.
- Document best practices using visual tools such as process maps and standard operating procedures.
- Engage in professional development through hands-on learning, structured workshops, and collaborative projects.
- Rotate through various functions of the supply chain facility and work alongside team members.
- Utilize analytic tools and key performance indicators to complete an internship project and support business recommendations.
- Acquire experience with order management, transportation management, and warehouse management systems.
What you'll need#
- Rising Seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Logistics.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply concepts of profitability and statistical inference.
- Ability to conduct thorough analysis to support strategy and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting at least 30 lbs, constant moving, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching above eye level.
