Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the core operations of a retail department store. Interns gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, and colleague development. This program serves as a potential pathway to the Store Management Executive Development Program (EDP) upon graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain leadership insights and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute merchandising initiatives.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training team members.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Engage with store leadership to complete a project and presentation proposing ideas for business growth.
• Contribute to a performance-oriented team that emphasizes collaboration and professional development.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
• All majors are considered, with interest in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
• Strong business acumen, problem-solving skills, and a results-driven mindset.
• Ability to communicate effectively and engage with colleagues and customers.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as sitting, moving about the workplace, and reaching, with close vision requirements.
