Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, full-time, paid program taking place on-site during Summer 2026. Interns gain exposure to all facets of retail store leadership, including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, operations, and colleague development. You will work within a store leadership team to learn the complexities of running a high-volume retail department store.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leaders across store and regional business functions to broaden your professional perspective.
• Train and coach colleagues to maintain a customer-focused selling environment and ensure smooth daily operations.
• Analyze business trends and explore retail strategies to help select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Develop and present a project to store leadership proposing strategies for business growth.

What you'll need#

• Must be a rising senior enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program with one year remaining, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Preferred majors include Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or Human Resources.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical requirements include constant movement, frequent heavy lifting (at least 30 lbs), reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. The role requires remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours.
