Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, human resources, and asset protection. The program runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026, and offers the opportunity to contribute to a performance-oriented team while developing leadership skills.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leadership across various business functions within the store and region.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training colleagues.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Explore retail strategies through business analysis and propose new ideas for growth through a final project and presentation.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect among colleagues, customers, and the community.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
• All majors are welcome to apply.
• Strong business acumen and a curiosity for developing modern retail business.
• Ability to solve problems and drive results through collaboration.
• Sincere passion for engaging with people, supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
• Self-motivation and a positive attitude toward tackling new challenges.
• Physical ability to sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers; occasional requirement to move about the workplace, reach, and utilize close vision.
