Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns will gain experience in areas including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, store operations, and colleague development. The program runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leadership across various business functions within the store and region.
• Learn to develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training team members.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that aligns with customer needs.
• Explore retail strategies by examining the analytical side of the business.
• Complete a project and presentation for store leadership to propose ideas for business growth.
• Foster an environment of respect and authentic connection with colleagues and customers.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
• A sincere passion for engaging with people, supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to solve problems and drive results.
• Self-motivation and a positive attitude toward taking on new challenges.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle objects, and moving about the workplace.
