Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the core functions of retail leadership. Interns will gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, and colleague development. You will work within a store leadership team to identify business challenges and collaborate on solutions while learning the strategies that drive a multi-million-dollar retail operation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leaders across store and regional business functions to broaden your operational perspective.
• Coach and develop colleagues to create a customer-focused selling environment.
• Support daily store operations, including training and coaching staff to ensure smooth execution.
• Analyze business trends to select merchandise that meets customer needs and apply retail strategies.
• Contribute to a performance-driven team and complete a project involving a presentation of business growth strategies to store leadership.

What you'll need#

• Rising senior status in an accredited undergraduate program with one year of study remaining.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• All majors are considered, including Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, and Operations Management.
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
