Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, full-time, paid program designed to provide exposure to the leadership and operations of a retail department store. Interns gain hands-on experience in areas such as customer service, merchandising, business analysis, store operations, and human resources. This program serves as an introduction to retail strategy, with the potential for high-performing interns to be considered for the Store Management Executive Development Program upon graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow managers in operations and visual merchandising to plan and execute product initiatives.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that aligns with customer needs.
• Engage with leadership across various business functions within the store and region.
• Develop a customer-focused environment by coaching and training team members.
• Explore retail strategies through business analysis and project work, culminating in a presentation to store leadership.
• Foster an environment of respect and authentic connection with colleagues and customers.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a junior at an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
• All majors are welcome to apply.
• Strong business acumen and a curiosity for developing modern retail operations.
• Ability to solve problems, drive results, and maintain a self-motivated, positive attitude.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with a passion for engaging with people.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the role, including sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle objects, and moving about the workplace.
