Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns gain experience in areas including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, and colleague development. This program runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026, and serves as an opportunity to evaluate potential fit for the company's Store Management Executive Development Program (EDP) following graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leadership across various business functions within the store and region.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training colleagues.
• Analyze business trends to select merchandise that meets customer needs and explore big-picture retail strategies.
• Complete a project and presentation, consulting with store leadership to propose ideas for business growth.
• Foster an environment of respect and build connections with colleagues, customers, and the community.

What you'll need#

• Current junior status, pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. While Business Administration and Marketing are relevant, all majors are considered.
• Self-motivation and a positive attitude, including the initiative to tackle new challenges.
• A sincere passion for engaging with people, supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems and drive results through others.
• Strong business acumen and curiosity about developing a modern retail business.
• Physical ability to sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects. Occasional movement around the workplace and reaching is required.
