Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the leadership and operational facets of a retail department store. Interns will gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, store operations, and colleague development. This program serves as an opportunity to evaluate career fit, with high-performing interns eligible for consideration for the post-graduation Store Management Executive Development Program.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute merchandising initiatives that improve business performance.
• Engage with leadership across various store and regional business functions.
• Learn to cultivate a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and developing team members.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that aligns with customer needs.
• Support daily store operations through training and coaching.
• Develop and present a project to store leadership proposing new ideas for business growth.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
• A cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
• All majors are welcome to apply, with particular relevance to Business Administration, Marketing, and Communications.
• Self-motivation, a positive attitude, and a sincere interest in engaging with people.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset.
• Business acumen and a curiosity for modern retail strategy.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the role, including sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle or feel, with occasional movement around the workplace.
