Macy's 2026 Summer Internship, Store Management

About the role#

The Store Management Internship is an 8-week, paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns will gain experience in customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, and colleague development. This program runs from June 8 through August 1, 2026. Successful completion may lead to an offer for the Store Management Executive Development Program (EDP) trainee position after graduation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain leadership insights and receive constructive feedback.
• Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
• Engage with leadership across various business functions within the store and region.
• Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training colleagues.
• Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
• Explore retail strategies and participate in a project to propose new ideas for business growth.
• Foster an environment of respect and authentic connections with colleagues and customers.

What you'll need#

• Currently in your junior year of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. All majors are considered, including Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, and Psychology.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude, including the initiative to tackle new challenges.
• Sincere passion for engaging with people, supported by strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems and drive results through others.
• Strong business acumen and curiosity about developing a modern retail business.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle or feel, with occasional movement around the workplace.
