Macy's 2026 Summer Internship - Merchandising

About the role#

The Macy’s 8-week Merchandising summer internship offers exposure to business strategies, consumer products, and retail trends. Interns are placed into one of two functions—Buying or Pricing Strategy—based on skillset and interest. Throughout the program, you will gain a holistic understanding of retail operations through hands-on work, professional development workshops, and networking with senior leaders. This program may lead to full-time opportunities in our early careers program upon graduation.

What you'll do#

• Drive sales, margin, and inventory productivity by developing assortment strategies and optimizing product selections.
• Translate product performance data into advertising strategies and featured product selections to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with teams to develop assortment strategies for fashion and key items.
• Attend weekly business meetings to discuss markdowns, inventory, and pricing executions.
• Execute permanent markdowns for both stores and macys.com using internal system tools.
• Analyze business performance metrics to make recommendations based on current trends.
• Build professional relationships with team members, business leaders, and fellow interns.

What you'll need#

• Junior status (rising Senior) pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret numerical and financial information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence others.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, macros, and advanced formulas) considered a plus.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a professional environment.
