About the role#
As a Construction Intern at M/I Homes, you will work directly with the Construction Manager to coordinate day-to-day activities at our residential subdivisions. This role provides hands-on experience across all phases of the home building process. You will spend your time on-site, gaining technical knowledge while helping ensure our homes meet quality and safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Inspect homes during various construction phases to monitor quality and workflow.
- Schedule subcontractors and coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment.
- Act as a point of contact between subcontractors and management to resolve issues.
- Perform minor repairs, such as paint touch-ups, caulking, and trim work, before pre-settlement inspections.
- Assist with homeowner walk-throughs and meetings with local inspectors.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site by removing debris from common areas and homes.
- Handle administrative tasks using software like Excel, Outlook, and Build Pro.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Associates degree program in Construction Management or a related field.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and general construction processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and operate hand and power tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver's license for travel between sites.
