About the role#
The Construction Intern assists the Construction Manager in coordinating on-site construction activities for assigned subdivisions. This role involves learning all phases of the home building process through direct participation in daily operations, quality control, and subcontractor coordination.
What you'll do#
- Inspect assigned homes during various construction phases to monitor workflow and quality.
- Schedule subcontractors and coordinate the delivery and use of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Act as a liaison between subcontractors and management by reporting progress and addressing issues.
- Perform minor repairs, such as paint touch-ups, caulking, trim work, and appliance checks, before pre-settlement inspections.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by removing debris from common areas and homes.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including computer work, meeting with inspectors, and conducting walk-throughs with homeowners.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Associates degree in Construction Management or a related field, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
- Understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Strong customer-service orientation with effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
