About the role#
The Cybersecurity Internship at LPL Financial offers hands-on experience across a range of domains including cloud security, network security, identity and access management, application security, and cyber risk management. This 10-week program provides an opportunity to build foundational skills while contributing to the protection of business systems and data. Interns will engage in projects tailored to their interests and participate in career workshops, senior executive interactions, and community involvement opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security tools, dashboards, and alerts to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, or suspicious activity.
- Support incident response efforts by analyzing security events, documenting findings, and escalating issues.
- Assist with vulnerability assessments, review scan results, and track remediation efforts.
- Participate in cybersecurity engineering projects, including the implementation and configuration of security technologies.
- Research emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the organization's security posture.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, projects, certifications, clubs, research, or competitions.
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles such as authentication, encryption, access control, and network security.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site in an LPL primary office location.
Location & details#
- Locations: Fort Mill, Charlotte, or Austin.
- Term: 10 weeks, from June 1, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and location.
